Say 'Good-Bye' to the carpet (& chairs)!

It has served us well, but has come to the end of its life. So - watch this space to see the progress of our new carpet being laid.

Pentecost Sunday/World Day of Prayer

We celebrated Pentecost Sunday and World Day of Prayer with a special 'Creative Prayer' service in place of our normal Sunday Service. Awesome presence of the Lord in our midst, with deep prayer, repentance and people 'connecting' with God.

27 people for dinner, and that's just TWO families!!!

Had some new friends around for dinner, well - just one family actually - 17 of them! Add to that our 10, and that's a lot of people for one meal - with just two families!

Great time though. Sometimes large families aren't invited out much. The logistics are just too scary. But once you hit around 5 kids, another dozen or so doesn't seem to make that big a difference :-)

Youth 'Posh Nite' May 2007.

Great time for many of our youth to 'dress up' and hit the city for pizza!

Great night. Strange how there are so many more girls than guys on this type of event.

Mind you, Michael 'scrubbed' up really nice :-)

Easter Camp 2007

Mystery Creek Hamilton

25 of our youth joined with over 3,400 other youth from around the North Island for the 2007 BYM Easter Camp.

I (Ps Roger) joined them for the day on Saturday. My first 'taste' was walking into the main auditorium, pitch black (until my eyes - and glasses - adjusted) to see thousands upon thousands of young people worshipping the Lord in such freedom and energy, that it makes the adult church look 'tame' in comparison!

Would you believe that's Stuart and Michael in the 'mud'  photo?

Great time, God impacted the lives of our young people in many deep and lasting ways.

This is the scene that greeted me on arrival. It was quite 'awesome' and inspiring! (This is only 1/3 of the stadium, and is looking to the rear. Both sides were also packed with young people worshipping the Lord.)

Worship 'Youth style' with heaps of lights,

multi media and REALLY LOUD - just the way I like it!

Sitting under the enormous 'tent' provided for us by a sponsor. This time was spent talking, singing, eating and playing 'Easter Camp Idol' with great entertainment from Carla and the girls!

God is raising up a new generation of Christians who will 'Possess the Land, and reach this world for Christ!'

For us 'oldies' (Me included) it can be difficult at times to embrace the new way (lights, dance, LOUDNESS and style of music) that our younger generation serve and worship the Lord. Some of us might even feel threatened by their freedom and the removal of some of our 'sacred' boundaries. (Baptist young people dancing!!!)  But, as I often say from the pulpit, 'Let us NOT be like the children of Israel who had to die in the wilderness because of their unwillingness to embrace the new thing God was wanting to do, venturing into the unknown and unfamiliar!

Praise God for the traditional ways, and the new :-)

Palm Sunday - Creation Ministries

We had a great time celebrating Palm Sunday in a good old 'Kiwi' way, with Silver-Fern Fronds! We then heard from Adrian Bates (CEO Creation Ministries NZ). This was a very encouraging and informative presentation in support of Creation over Evolution. For me personally (Ps Roger), this Bible study has had a deep impact upon my faith and life. To be honest, completing a degree in theology really messed with my faith, especially regarding Genesis chapter 1. (This is not the fault of BCNZ where I studied, but indicative of my personality and presumptions). I really needed this study to refresh and strengthen my faith and trust in the literal pages and description of creation.    Stay tuned, and see how today's presentation from the Word of God impacts my teaching and theology - all for the better!

Ignite Youth - Easter Camp Team

We prayed at church for the youth members going to this year's Easter Camp. This is always a time where God  impacts their lives in a very deep and authentic way.

Check out the Youth Site, on site map, for more photos and testimonies of How God has impacted the lives of our young people.

The 'youth' are not the leaders of tomorrow. They are the leaders of today!!!

Shared 'New Comer's Lunch' March 2007

Deb and I invited all our 'new' and existing members to a shared lunch at the Manse (our home), around 50 people attended.

Wonderful time of getting to know people, and making new friends.

Here we are starting lunch.

A great mixture of ages attended too, a large portion of us were part of families.

I'm reminded of the verse in the Bible, 'God puts the lonely into new, spiritual families'

We plan on holding these lunches every few months, and would love you to be a part of the next one too!

Rachel and the 'camp committee' divided all the camp members into equal teams, then set us the task of producing our 'Team Banners' and 'buffs'.

A few years ago our Women's Ministry held an outreach titled 'Brides through the Decades'. We had lots of our ladies bring their wedding gowns from various decades - and model them on a 'catwalk' in the main auditorium!

It was a great night, with many community ladies attending.

Here is Anya, Rhesa and Abbey having a bit of fun!

Lynn, Monty, Caleb and Anya, we miss you guys heaps!
